IS THAT AN EAST INDIA?
I WAS GOING TO POST THIS merely for its historic value, which is considerable:
RACHEL MADDOW AND DALE DEGROFF DISCUSSING COCKTAILS
BUT THEN I get to the end, and Maddow pulls off a smarty-pants, cocktail nerd maneuver of such incredible dexterity that I basically want to give up the smarty-pants business now.
COMPARED TO HER, we all look like vodka and red bull in a shame glass.
AND MEANWHILE, it is so: I will be joining Tom Scharpling for THE BEST SHOW ON WFMU tonight.
That is all.
I will be tuning in to you on TBSOWFMU tonight as I tune in every Tuesday night.
In the past year I have listened to the entire 8 year archive of the program.

Compared to her, we are just the bull sans red. Rachel Maddow makes my heart go pitter pat and my brain unable to do that thing that brains do…I knew it once, but someone mentioned Rachel Maddow, and I can’t focus.

I don’t get it — did you think she was intentionally slighting her guest by suggesting that a “low-level, amateur” had learned so much from him?

She’s just delighted, I think, that her cocktail know-how dovetailed with the suggestion of an expert. She thought of herself as a amateur, but when the expert suggested a holiday concoction and she was able to correctly identify the thing, it was like she’d correctly answered a tough quiz question. She did well in front of an expert, and we’re happy for her. It’s not a zinger.

This was quite the smarty-parents move. I will admit that I was doing the same thing, although, in my home, the recipe described is what we tend to call “gravy.”
