POWER

HERE IS THE WOMAN who was hounded out of the Obama campaign for calling Hillary Clinton “a monster” in an Irish newspaper.

SAMANTHA POWER, who amazed the room at the TED conference last February when she outlined what seemed, at the time, something incredibly bold and fantastic: an Obama foreign policy–clear-eyed, profoundly moral, and realistic.

FOR ALL SORTS OF REASONS, I hope she is part of Obama’s State Department. Maybe as secretary? Is that role filled yet?

That is all.

  1. Most excellent. Is this before or after she is ousted from the Obama campaign. If it’s after, very nice that she is still wearing a shint Obama button.

  3. The Feeding Refugees/Lesser Evil problem is too reminiscent of the Auto Manufacturing Loan (Bailout).

  4. I should probably point out that The Scotsman is a Scottish paper, not an Irish one…

  5. That’s so weird. I just watched that TED video the other day. Thought it was really interesting.

  6. I highly recommend her book “A Problem From Hell” about past genocides and the failure of the international community, mainly America, to act.

  7. i’ve had her book on my bedside table for like a year. it’s a great book on the scale of thoughtful, informative non-fiction. unfortunately, it is a terrible book on the scale of bedtime reading.

  8. [...] there are plenty of people who actually know their shit who have been waiting patiently in line. Samantha Power deserves a really nice corner office in a place of prominence, regardless of how awkward it might [...]
