SINCE I AM ON VACATION

SINCE I AM ON VACATION, I have decided to only write the blandest, least witty/interesting/meaningul tweets possible.

That is all.

  25. Well it was a GOOD thing I clicked that tinyurl link, it was. I got to read this FASCINATING article… oh well, now it is not a time for griping about your lackluster blog post.

Well, now where’s that pesky RSS feed, must I Ctrl+F that eFfer or should I throw my gaze from one side of the screen like a madman?

    gently frances indeed.

  32. Mr. Hodgman, I have a question regarding your “Today… In The Past” calender. Today’s entry says:

“JULY 11, 1859, LONDON: Charles Dickens publishes A Tale of Two Cities. The two cities in question are Cirith Ungol and Orthanc.”

I don’t believe Cirith Ungol and Orthanc aren’t cities at all. My understanding is that Orthanc was a lone tower within Isengard, and Cirith Ungol was a region that included the pass gaurded by Shelob, and a tower overlooking the pass. Neither of these seems like a city to me.

Please correct me if I’m wrong.

    Comment by GuildSteersman — July 11, 2009 @ 3:14 pm

  33. Sorry, the first sentence in the third paragraph of my previous comment should read: “I don’t believe Cirith Ungol and Orthanc are cities at all.”

  34. I know that everyone is enjoying their vacations right now and I by no means wish to cause alarm, but there are millions of cubic tons of molten lava directly under our feet just waiting to completely destroy the civilization we have worked so hard to construct.

    Comment by Charles — July 11, 2009 @ 11:34 pm

  35. Sounds fun!

  39. The 15th was my one-year anniversary of moving to New York. I celebrated by going to a movie screening (a Michael Cera thing with “Galifianakis AND the Mac guy”-overheard as that exactly; I was amazed that they could pronounce “Galifianakis” but not “Long”), proving that I could feel like I was still in LA and not be at all nostalgic. As an aside, I am now in my last year of being in the “[ ] 30-34″ age bracket. Next year, it’s “[ ] 35+”!! More news to entertain you on your mountaintop: In addition to (still) needing a job, I will also need a new place to live in or by September. That’s right: you heard it here first! (I think.)

… Anyway, someone on the Internet said that I should write down what I want, and that the universe would provide. I don’t want to sully up my blog with that kind of navel-gazing bullshit, so I thought I’d sully up yours. Thanks, Jh! Dear Universe, I’m writing to you through John Hodgman to submit you for the following: 1) A job that keeps me in New York; 2) an apartment that is with two or fewer roommates, that I can afford, in a neighborhood that is sort of nice to walk around in, and a room of my own that is big enough that I can move around in it without bruising my knee on one of my many dressers; 3) at least one to three pug sightings a day … fawn-colored preferred, but black pugs are OK, too; and 4) some sort of clarity, life goal, or general direction that maybe could include sociable drinking, mental acuity and/or intellectual fitness, wordplay, social accountability, and wish-fulfillment (be it my own or others’). In conclusion, please forget about the pony that I asked for, and provide me with my meager requests. All hail the teal deer! Sincerely, KM
