MAZES AND MONSTERS AND SAN FRANCISCO
PERHAPS YOU KNOW THAT I will be traveling tomorrow to implausible city of San Francisco to take part in the SF SKETCHFEST.
I HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
SPECIFICALLY, I will attempt to see you at these locations:
ON SATURDAY, at 2PM, at Cobb’s Comedy Club, where I will once again be having a conversation on stage with DAVE EGGERS, a tradition I refer to as “THE SAN FRANCISCO TREAT,” and then taking your questions.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME FAMILIARITY WITH THE TELEVISION MOVIE “MAZES AND MONSTERS” will be helpful at this event.
AND THEN LATER ON SATURDAY, at 10:30PM, at The Eureka Theater, I will be visiting with the famous feral boy/famous sketch comedy troupe “KASPER HAUSER.”
AND THEN ON SUNDAY, at 9pm, at the Mezzanine, I will join H. Jon Benjamin and Todd Barry, aka THE RED WINE BOYS.
I MAY ALSO SEE YOU at other places in San Francisco: ALCATRAZ! FISHERMAN’S WHARF! EATING RICE PILAF ON TOP OF THE FAMOUS CABLE CARS! OR OTHER COMEDY CLUBS! Oh, it truly is a city of prisons and bread bowls and strange trolleys and ha ha, right there by the bay.
UNTIL THEN
That is all.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for you at the dive bars in the Mission!

Please tell me that this means you’ll be playing D&D with Dave Eggers on stage, live, in San Francisco.

Come see the 10:30 show at Cobb’s tomorrow if you arrive in time — One of my new year’s resolutions is to shake your hand!

This, unfortunately, does do harm as I was utterly unprepared to see you again so soon after your previous appearance in San Francisco–the one where my upstairs neighbor Hugh Lafferty had to be tackled and restrained from running onstage to *sing* the introduction from “More Information . . . .” (We all keep telling Hugh he can’t sing, but he appears to suffer severe hearing loss when confronted with words like “can’t.”)
Unfortunately, times have been tight and hard (no, I shouldn’t have bought that subscription to “Pulled Pork” monthly). Furthermore, I promised my adorable wife (and you know she’s adorable because you met her and she took that adorable i-Phone photo of you that we hope you got) we would see “Avatar in IMAX 3-D” the very afternoon of your Cobb’s Club appearance.
So: The choice is stark and it is this: “Avatar in Imax 3-D” or Hodgman in Analog Flesh?
You’ll know the answer if you see the guy in the black fedora with the Lee Van Cleef mustache.
Time for me to go out and commit random, rampant acts of villainy.

“Pardue?!?! Is that you?!?!”
Gotta love M&M. A classic! Makes me miss my shoulder pads–and Bosom Buddies.

Don’t forget your San Francisco Arts and Lectures broadcast on Sunday the 31st I will be listening for my own wonderful Question about SiFi roles as in BSG.
