Make a Difference

Many people struggle through life, and you should be thankful if you are blessed in many ways. Some people go through difficult phases in their lives such as personal issues, unemployment, financial problems, and divorce.

Helping others who are in need is your choice to make. You have the opportunity to make a difference in this world despite many problems that are going on around you. Doing small deeds for others can help make a difference in the lives of many people especially those who are about to give up and lose hope. Here are some ways how you can create a positive impact on the lives of others.

 1. Provide professional help

If you want to make a difference in the life of others why not train to be a therapist so you would be able to provide practical ways to help people cope with their problems. You can start by completing a course in college that majors in psychology and take additional classes to be a certified therapist or life coach. However, if you are not in the position to give professional advice, better refer people to the experts.

2. Be kind towards other people

You do not have to show grand gestures to other people to be kind. Saying please and thank you goes a long way. Doing little favours for your colleagues, friends and family members without expecting anything in return is just some random act of kindness that can put a smile on peoples’ faces, especially if they are having a bad day.

3. Do not judge others

Judging other people based on limited information can hurt feelings and destroy relationships. If you have friends or family members who have made mistakes, instead of judging them, it would be best if you give them the benefit of the doubt and listen to their story. If a person has done something wrong towards you and they sincerely apologised and would like to change for the better, instead of judging why not give that person another chance to prove that they are worthy of your trust. Remember that the more you decide to judge other people, the more you define your personality.

4. Volunteer for organisations

Volunteering is a great experience that gets you out of your comfort zone and makes you realise how lucky you are to have a comfortable life. Join non-profit organisations by serving food in soup kitchens, providing assistance to the homeless and helping jobless individuals get back on their feet. Your small efforts can inspire others to do the same thing, and that is already making a difference in society and is a great way of giving back to the community.

5. Donate things to the less fortunate

If you happen to have a lot of stuff that is longer being used, then its time to de-clutter your closet and give it to less fortunate people. A lot of homeless families would appreciate getting used clothing and other things that they cannot afford.

Living in a self-serving society teaches people to prioritise themselves. You can be an instrument of change by sharing a different perspective that makes a difference in the lives of others.
