TIME OUT FOR BRUCE CAMPBELL
I TEMPORARILY INTERRUPT this long, sustained silence on this imitation blog to say:
NOW THAT I’VE GOT your search engine’s attention, let me point out that:
IT IS TRUE that I once was Bruce Campbell’s literary agent, and in that capacity it was my job to occasionally…
A) ACCOMPANY Bruce to horror movie conventions;
B) TAKE HIM TO RESTAURANTS, including the old-old Shopsin’s, in order to eat for free;
and C) CON MY FRIEND and colleague John Sellers into running a regular feature on Bruce in the pages of TIME OUT NEW YORK, a weekly magazine devoted to stopping time here in New York City.
(I ALSO SOLD Bruce’s first book, though given the advance I got for it, “SOLD” is a kind word. Luckily, Bruce was always kind, and he also made up it all up in royalties and awesomeness.)
NOW SELLERS HAS DUG UP the entire archive of BRUCE CAMPBELL WATCH ‘98, documenting its brief-but-bright, mayfly like life in print, and including…
THIS PHOTO OF BRUCE, who very gamely dropped by the TONY office’s after our Shopsin’s lunch to trash Sellers’s desk and, as you can see, visably disapprove of his portable CD player, once again proving that:

wow. not to detract from the awesomeness that is bruce campbell…but i was having one of those momemts where i was trying to remember this tv show about a substitute teacher who did a cover of dust in the wind by kansas…and you brought to to me on a silver platter! thank you for reminding me how much i enjoyed nick freno!

Bruce Campbell is the greatest actor of this (or any) generation. I am convinced that being in the same room with him just once made me 50x more popular with any women I met (or will ever meet) afterwards.
The fact that you were his literary agent (no matter how poorly you may or may not have done) pales in comparison to the amount of aura you must have absorbed in your contact with His Bruceness. I no longer wonder at your animal attraction.
Must make sure the wife never meets you.

In Chicago, I had the pleasure of seeing My Name is Bruce AND Mr. Campbell doing a Q&A afterward. Watching Mr. Campbell put the smackdown on would-be Raimi Know-It-Alls is definitely one of the highlights of 2008 for me.
(It’s true, Hanna, that one of Ted Raimi’s cameos steps over the line from questionable taste into “Oh dear, am I in a terrible time machine, and is that Mickey Rooney? Why, God, Why?”, but it is a very small part of the movie.)
