Startup

In today’s culture, so many professionals are striking it out on their own as entrepreneurs. Sometimes they are just tired of punching the 9 to 5 and other times they see something they could do better but are getting nowhere with the powers that be. However, good they may be at their jobs, many just don’t have the background in business administration to make a successful go of it the first time around and this is why so many new entrepreneurs search far and wide for advice on how to launch a successful startup, by Louis Hernandez Jr.

First a Word of Warning – Don’t Throw the Baby out with the Bath Water

When being told to “forget what you’ve heard,” that premise doesn’t apply to literally every bit of advice you are given when breaking ground as an entrepreneur. However, much of what you will be told won’t apply to you or what it is you hope to achieve. Always read what some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs have to say when telling their story and apply what you can to your industry and the company you want to launch.

Don’t disregard every bit of advice, but rather, check and double check key concepts that interest you. This is a must. To disregard a good idea is much like throwing the baby out with the bath water and you certainly don’t want to do that! You don’t need to agree with everything you read, but you must never stop learning.

The Most Highly Disputed Element an Entrepreneur Can Focus On

With that said, passion is going to be one of the most controversial prerequisites you will ever encounter in terms of launching a successful startup. Some successful entrepreneurs say that passion for what you do doesn’t need to be a key ingredient when launching a new business. However, the one thing you need to be mindful of is that today’s consumer, Millennials and Gen Z (if you recognize the new guidelines), want only to deal with businesses who are passionate about what they do.

Never before has there been a generation that wants to connect with companies that share their passions and if you want break records, passion is a key element every entrepreneur should have. A laissez-faire attitude will get you nowhere because consumers will quickly spot the fact that you simply want to make money. (There’s nothing wrong with wanting to turn a profit, but consumers know when they are being had!)

Passion Can Set the Standard Others Can Only Aspire To

Successful entrepreneurs will tell you to be really passionate about what you do. If you love what you are doing others will come to love it as well. From members of your team to the consumers you serve, passion is contagious and therefore a key ingredient every startup should have. If you are told otherwise, forget what you’ve heard. This is the best advice a startup can be given – EVER!
